Taking Advantage
Vernon Camp, Executive Director
Rural Water Association of Arizona
from the
executive director
The Rural Water Association of Arizona continues to progress in
our mission to provide technical assistance, training and advocacy
for the drinking water and wastewater industry in Arizona. The
Association is able to accomplish this by tapping into years of
real-life experience, common sense and hard work on the part
of our volunteer Board of Directors and the best Rural Water
staff in the business! Added to this winning combination is the
foundation of an active membership, dedicated to providing safe
drinking water, environmentally responsible wastewater systems
and protecting our precious water resources.
This past year has been another success as we have continued to
strengthen existing partnerships while seeking out new avenues
to benefit our members. Our staff has and is providing training
throughout the state. RWAA trained almost 1,000 people in the
topics of water, wastewater, management, leadership, financial,
and board responsibilities. The staff of RWAA has over 100 years
of combined experience as certified water operators! Each year the
difficult job of properly managing drinking water and wastewater
utilities becomes more complex ... And the rules and regulations
governing our operations more stringent. Technical assistance
and training from the Rural Water Association of Arizona is a
critical resource for small communities to be able to maintain
compliance with the increasing number of federal regulations
under the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Clean Water Act.
As we struggle to understand and comply with the
ever-increasing number of regulations, we all need to take
advantage of every opportunity to positively influence the laws
affecting our industry:
