Spring 2013
from the president
N
NORTH CAROLINA RURAL WATER MEMBERS,
ow that winter is coming to an end we can all focus on the things of spring, like warmer
weather, singing birds, blooming flowers, and many other events in nature. One of my
most favorite parts of spring is the NCRWAAnnual Conference & Exhibition that is held
in Greensboro, NC, each May. At this conference, you not only have the opportunity
to see all of the newest and latest tools and technology of the water and wastewater
industry, but you can also attend some of the many training classes and receive your
required training hours for your continuing education needs. While in these classes,
you will have the opportunity to meet with your colleagues to discuss your day-to-day
problems and find solutions that will prove to be invaluable to you for as long as you are
in the water or wastewater industry.
Although all of the above is important, I feel the most important thing about theAnnual
Conference & Exhibition is the exposure to many different industry professionals and
the relationships you will gain. You will quickly find that a lot of the attendees at
Conference will become your family in the water and wastewater industry. Those of
you reading this that have been to Conference know this already. My challenge to
those of you that have not experienced the Annual Conference is to come be a part of
this invaluable experience.
On a personal note, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their
support and assistance while I have served as president of NCRWA. These past two
years have seemed like a fleeting moment in time. As your president, I can truly say that
NCRWA has gone through some changing and difficult times as a service organization.
Changing times and the continued threat of loss of funding sources have tested us
to the limit. I feel that together we have weathered the storm and become a stronger
organization. Not because of anything that I have done, but because of the continued
support of the dedicated system and associated members that make us what we are.
As I step down as president I will always treasure this time in my professional career.
Thanks again,
Macon Robertson
