This year, Ohio Restaurant Association (ORA) President & CEO Geoff Hetrick and ORA Director of Government Affairs Richard Mason escorted several association members to meetings with legislators. ORA members and other Ohio restaurateurs who participated in the two-day conference included: Jamie Richardson and Nick Zuk, White Castle System, Inc.; Lynn Brown, Outback Steakhouse; Gary Callicoat and Jim Sauter, The Rusty Bucket Restaurant and Tavern; Dan Young, Young’s Jersey

Dairy; Roy Getz, Raising Cane’s; Cameron Mitchell and David Miller, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants; David Frissora, Wendy’s; Denise Fugo, Sammy’s and Mark Peebles, Oink-a-Doodle Moo.

“It’s valuable to remember that e-mails and letters are helpful, but nothing gets an elected offcial’s attention better than a face-to-face conversation with a constituent,” said Mason. “Every year, our members do a great job educating Ohio’s representatives and senators about important issues, and I have no doubt the same thing will happen at this year’s conference.”

In April, Ohio restaurateurs joined more than 500 others from around the country at the National Restaurant Association (NRA) Public Affairs Conference in Washington, D.C. The conference included a full day of Capitol Hill offce visits, a gala reception and dinner honoring the national winners of the NRA’s Faces of

Several ORA members recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to share their concerns with legislators
