The Reference Point: Winter 2014 - page 7

so much just traveling from survey to survey.
Jack had a way about him that made you feel
comfortable, yet his skills and command of all
the standards left you with no doubt that you
were in the presence of a master.
Dave Marlow –
Jack managed to make difficult
things simple and coupled that with a great
personality. He will be missed but not forgotten.
Margaret Podlich –
Jack was an immense
contributor to the marine industry and
boaters alike, helping them know about boats
both as new purchases and disaster recovery.
Peter Eikenberry –
My sincerest condolences.
I knew Jack through ABYC and saw him
many times at meetings, boat shows,
conferences and seminars. He was very
knowledgeable in his profession and a truly
nice person. I am truly stunned because
he and I are the same age. Elaine has my
sincerest sympathies and best wishes. May
God bless him and keep him.
Dana Holland –
I will always remember
Jack as the ready and willing always
cheerful competent marine surveyor and
naval architect that helped steer me through
many complex work situations. Thank you
Jack for all the years we worked together and
for all your selfless help. It was a privilege to
have known you and worked with you. You
will be so missed. My thoughts and prayers
have been with you and your family and
will continue to be so.
Mike Kaufman –
Jack was the best friend
a person could have. He always saw the
amusing side of life and of our profession,
which is probably why he was always
smiling. He picked up a lot of people’s
slack, without complaint with skill and
professionalism. I will miss him, his humor,
his energy and his professional skill. He was
the best.

which will be shared
with his wife Elaine.
