n Tina Turner’s 1989 hit “Simply the Best,” she sings
“You’re simply the best, better than all the rest, better than
anyone, anyone I’ve ever met.” One lady sang the song, but
according to the album, thirteen songwriters collaborated on
that one song with her when it was re-released.
It takes a lot of help to be the best and many safety organizations
in addition to ABYC help keep boaters safe in the industry.
While this list certainly does not encompass all industry related
organizations, they are just a few who are partnered with ABYC
for your safety.

Association of Marina
Industries (AMI)
AMI is a non-profit membership
organization dedicated exclusively to
serving the needs of the marina industry.
For its US members specifically, AMI
offers direct access to innovative and cost-
saving business solutions, educational
services, regularly updated news and
publications, and research results. AMI
is the independent voice for the marina
industry at the national level on all related
legislative and regulatory issues. For more

The National Association
of Marine Surveyors
(NAMSGlobal)
NAMSGlobal, estab-
lished in 1962, is a
professional
organi-
zation that certifies
marine surveyors and
provides continuing education oppor-
tunities. NAMSGlobal’s membership is
international and its Certified Marine
Surveyor members carry the NAMS-CMS
designation after their names. From
pleasure boats and yachts to commercial
ships, NAMSGlobal marine surveyor
members survey new and used vessels
to determine their condition and value.
NAMSGlobal surveyor members also
survey cargo, machinery, docks, wharfs,
marinas and handling equipment related
to the marine industry. Additionally,
NAMSGlobal marine surveyor members
investigate marine claims and act as expert

National Safe
Boating Council (NSBC)
NSBC is the foremost
coalition
for
the
advancement and pro-
motion of safer boating
through
education,
outreach, and training. The NSBC
accomplishes this mission by promoting
outreach and research initiatives that support
boating education and safety awareness;
improving the professional development of
boating safety educators through training;
and developing and recognizing outstanding
