MARINE TECHNICIAN TODAY
|
FALL 2014
It’s amazing how time flies. Here we are winding
down another boating season. As we prepare for
the fall/winter, AMTECH will be promoting its New
Service Initiative to the industry. For those of you
who missed the New Service Initiative article in
the summer issue of Marine Technician Today, you
can read the electronic version on the AMTECH
website. Addressing the serious shortage of marine
technicians will be our number one goal this year.
In this issue of Marine Technician Today we will be
offering our thoughts on a salary structure needed
to help develop a career path for marine technicians.
We hope to present this to the boating industry this
fall. Don’t miss John Mosetti’s article on marine fuel
injection, plus all the other great articles throughout
the publication.
During the fall boat show season, AMTECH will
be exhibiting at the
International Boatbuilders’
Exhibition and Conference (IBEX - booth 550)
in Tampa, FL September 30-October 2, and we
will also be exhibiting at MRAA’s
Marine Dealer
Conference & Expo (MDCE - booth 234)
in
Orlando, FL, November 16-19. We hope to meet
with other marine industry leaders during these
events to address the above mentioned shortage of
marine technicians.
Make your plans now to attend the 22
nd
Annual
National Marine Service Expo
on the WyoTech
campus January 15-18, 2015 in Ormond Beach, FL.
NEW REDUCED TRAINING FEES!
For 2015 we have chopped up to $100 from the
cost of an eight hour class at NMSE ‘15. Last year
we brought back the trade show with much success;
it will be continued for 2015. The tradeshow will be
held on Friday, January 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m. The show will be followed by AMTECH’s annual
industry dinner that evening. Please note that free
exhibitor seminars will once again be held Thursday
evening (Jan. 15) after the first day of technical
training ends. Be sure to register early for NMSE ’15
as technical training has never been more important
than it is now. The three days of technical training
will be held on Thursday (Jan. 15) and Saturday and
Sunday (Jan. 17-18). New for this year is an eight
hour Mercury Optimax advanced course, presented
by Dave Marsh. This course will complement the
currently offered Outboard DFI course. Complete
time schedules and training details can be found on
the AMTECH website.
Field Training 2015 Price Reduction
AMTECH is also reducing its training fees on its
field training courses for 2015. AMTECH will be
conducting field training in the following cities
for 2015: Camdenton, MO; Chattanooga, TN; Fort
Lauderdale, FL; Houston, TX; Litchfield, IL; and
Seattle, WA. Please visit the AMTECH website for
