s The Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Massachusetts (HBRAMA) can proudly say:
“We have had a productive year”. It is often challenging to measure success when speaking
about the issues that Remodelers, Builders & Developers face. The building business is a moving
target, some years: energy efficiency is a hot button, the next: education is a major focus, and the past
few years have been consumed by fire sprinklers and army corps initiatives as well as a long list of other
concerns. If it were not for the HBRAMA and aligned business groups, many regulations which hinder
business would simply be passed and become law.
The first part of my term as president was focused on supporting the current administration as they began the
challenge of becoming Governor and Lieutenant Governor. Since the inauguration, our Government Affairs
leader John Smolak, our Lobbyist Group of Lynch & Fierro and I created opportunities to meet and discuss
Home Building & Remodeling along with its many challenges with the Governors Team. We have been
pleasantly welcomed by the administrations leadership as we gathered to discuss information that will be
helpful to the legislators as they pass or rescind regulation. It has been a while since we have been requested
to participate in these discussions, we are grateful for the past few months of participation and we look
forward to being part of the discussion in the future.
The HBRAMA will soon have new leadership; Elizabeth Kovach has been overwhelmingly chosen to
lead our association. She will be counting on a talented group of officers that will soon follow her to the
presidency. Elizabeth’s knowledge of this business will provide her with all the tools required to be a great
leader of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Massachusetts. Good luck Liz!
I would like to thank the Home Builders Association for the opportunity to your president.
Respectfully,
Andrew Crane
HBRAMA President
