Fall 2013
from the executive director
C
olorful leaves, motorcycle rides along the Blue
Ridge Parkway, trips to see Mildred the Bear at
Grandfather Mountain, and Christmas at Biltmore
are all things that come immediately to mind when I
think about western North Carolina this time of the
year. Adding to the list of memories will always be
the outstanding time that NCRWA had at the Grove
Park Inn in August for the Inaugural NCRWA
Leadership Summit. Sponsored by Southern
Corrosion and QS/1, the event hosted a premier
agenda of speakers and topics designed specifically
for decision makers across our industry. Attendee
feedback was extraordinary and we look forward
to having every one back with us next year for the
Leadership Summit.
As many know, it has been a dynamic year in
Raleigh with the General Assembly convening in
January and adjourning their 2013 Long Session
in late July. More than 1,700 Bills were introduced
during the session, which required our Legislative
Team to work tirelessly to represent your interests.
The major outcomes affecting our industry from
this Session are in the Legislative Report that is
included in this edition of The Tarheel Pipeline
®
.
The Legislative Report was also distributed to our
members through the enewsletter and is available
on our website at
.
I will conclude by expressing my personal
appreciation to Mr. Gregg Stabler, recently retired
General Manager of Davidson Water, Inc. Gregg
shared a special place in my life as he was the
President of NCRWA when I arrived in October
2007. A soft-spoken and gentle-spirited man, Mr.
Stabler was brilliant in the wisdom and judgment
required to be a successful leader. He also had that
amazing ability to absorb bad situations and return
only positive direction needed to resolve conflict
and steer an organization back towards its intended
purpose. On behalf of all of us at NCRWA, we
appreciate Gregg’s commitment and years of
service to NCRWA.
If your system needs assistance, please
do not hesitate to contact NCRWA as
we exist to help you provide services to
your customers.
Sincerely,
Daniel Wilson, PE, CAE, UMC
