Fall 2013
have been called several times over the last
couple of months with enquiries about Utility
Management schools and am happy to let
everyone know that we will be offering two
of these schools this fall. One will be held in
Kinston and the other back in Hickory. The
Utility Management schools are 3 days in
length and approved for 18 hours of water and
wastewater continuing education by the Water
Treatment Operators Certification Board
and Water Pollution Operators Certification
Commission. Whether you are on a career
path to become a manager or already are in
a management position this course can be of
benefit to you. This school offers the following
areas of training:
Day 1
– Components and principals of
accounting, financial reporting, fundamentals
of budgeting and planning, rate setting and
adjustment, asset management
Day 2
- Human resource management, the
manager and the governing body, tools
involved in customer service, emergency
preparedness, public relations and their
relationship to public policy
Day 3
– Understanding governing laws and
regulations, sustainability, managing water
resources, understanding operations, energy
conservation and safety.
This will be three days of quality training
with instructors that are experienced leaders
in the water and waste water industry. We
encourage each participant to follow up this
training by registering to take the nationally
recognized exam through National Rural
Water Association.
We will hold the school in Kinston, October 15,
16 & 17 and the Hickory School December 4, 5
& 6, 2013. Visit
to register.
