hen it comes to Leak Adjustment Policies, no two policies are the

same. But one thing is the same – the system loses money. Rural

Water has teamed up with Sumbelt Insurance Group to offer you the

only insurance-based water loss protection program available on the

market, ServLine. Insurance-based means it is not a warranty program

and is underwritten by a major insurance company. This new program

insures your Leak Adjustment Policy for your single-meter residential

customers, whatever it may be, against financial losses incurred by your

customers’ leaks. The cost to each customer varies depending on your

history, the number of connections, and your current leak adjustment

policy. The program also offers your customers the ability to opt-in to

water and sewer line protection.

Once ServLine has worked with you to determine your needs and the

cost, and before the program is rolled out, ServLine sends an introductory

letter explaining the program to your customers. Your customers are

automatically enrolled in the program but can call Servline to opt-out,

if they wish; however, ServLine agents will explain to the customer that

this insurance is now the utility’s Leak Adjustment Policy, and should

they opt-out and have a leak, they will be responsible for 100% of the

water bill. These conversations are recorded should you need them in the

future. Most utilities that currently have ServLine have at least a 95%

participation rate.

Did you catch that your customers call ServLine directly? That’s one of

the other great parts about this program! They take all calls regarding the

program as well as calls to handle claims freeing up your staff to do other

important functions.

If you would like to learn more about ServLine, please call NCRWA at
