• Summer 2013
feel it answers the needs of a large group of
both boaters and professionals alike.
Last, but certainly not least, we are
underway with the updates to four of
our ABYC industry certifications. As all
of our certified technicians are aware,
the certification is only valid for a five
year period. This is due to the fact that
over a five year period, technology shifts
dictate that new knowledge will be needed
to stay current and perform at a top tier
level. ABYC standards change too. Over
the last several years we have seen major
revisions to many of our ABYC standards
and even the addition of several new
standards. To that end, we will be working
with our certification partners, the National
Occupational
Competency
Testing
Institute (NOCTI) to revise our Electrical,
Marine Systems, Standards Knowledge
and Gasoline Engine certifications.
All of these certifications will have
completely new study guides to match.
The guides will be created using ABYC’s
new in-house publishing capabilities and
will more resemble a college-level text
book than the guides we’ve had available
historically. Expect to see this complete
line of new products roll out over the
summer months.
