“As HR Consultants, at Shared HR we are always on the
go. Our company believes that we work hard, so wellness
for us includes a healthy work/life balance. We offer a gym
membership reimbursement; a robust PTO plan that we are
encouraged to use; flexible work schedule for work/life balance;
and when we are in the office we are provided healthy snacks.”

“I am a company of one, but have a number of clients that
I consult with that are either running wellness programs or
considering them. Here are some trends I am seeing:
• Wellness is now being considered “well-being” – looking to
the overall mental, physical, emotional, and financial health of
the employee
• Wellness programs extend beyond the workplace – to create
a mindset to change behavior in a positive, healthful manner
• Wellness programs are more successful if the programs
include the family – thereby reinforcing the wellness into the
daily behaviors of the employee, they are surrounded by
healthy practices of those around them
• Programs are now including a number of new benefits:
Financial advice, legal advice, access to legal tools, like trusts,
wills, and pet insurance.”
- Nov Omana, HRIP, Founder, Collective HR Solutions
“Physical, mental and financial all play an important role in our
employee wellness program. West Yost offers a choice of a
corporate membership to a pre-selected club; a contribution to
health club of the employee’s choice or monthly contribution towards
classes that benefit their health such as yoga, kick boxing and cross
fit. Online wellness resources are available through the benefit portals
and include smoking cessation and biometric screenings.
Wellness programs such as providing healthy snacks (including
fresh veggies and fruit), weight loss management, sponsored walk/
runs and bike rides, and an employee assistance program that has
a wealth of confidential free resources for counseling, legal help,
mediation, and financial wellness. Financial assistance includes
a generous 401k match and benefits that have H.S.A. accounts
funded to cover the employee out of pocket deductibles.
Our vacation and sick leave policy is generous allowing
employees that needed time off to regenerate, spend time with
their families and take time to care for themselves and loved ones.
West Yost provides employees 2 weeks sick time in addition
to their vacation accruals and an additional 2 weeks if SDI is in
effect. West Yost offers a wearable wellness tool, such as our
pedometer program, with prizes for employees and families
reaching daily goals for their age brackets, awarded monthly.
We also provide a monthly Live Well, Work Well newsletter
that covers topics like health, wellness, fitness, nutrition and
personal finance. Our intranet has wellness resources such as
local walking routes, how to stretch and take a breaks at your
computer/desk and office fitness and ergonomic assessments.
Wellness matters and at West Yost we survey our employees
annually and implement feedback of what employees want and
how we can improve our offerings to support their total health.”
