T
he 2015 NCRWA Leadership Summit once
again delivered on its purpose of focusing
on the challenges faced by managers and
leaders of water and wastewater utilities.
From learning to collaborate with external
organizations, to gaining insight into new HR-
related issues, attendees walked away with
information they can use in their own system.
NCRWA realizes that our members are one
of our best resources and one of the best
resources for their peers in the industry.
Networkingwith other industry professionals
is just as important as sitting in classroom
learning from an instructor. Who better to
talk to than someone else who has already
tackled the problems you are currently
experiencing? Even if their solution did not
turn out well for them, learning from their
mistakes is equally as valuable. To take
networking to the next level, the Summit
featured roundtable discussions that allowed
attendees to tap into the minds of their peers
and talk through issues important to them.
The conversations started in this session are
still continuing today.
During the Summit dinner, NCRWAPresident
Barry Sutton and Executive Director
Daniel Wilson, had the distinct pleasure
of recognizing Mr. Ron McGrady for his
extensive service to NCRWA and to the
industry. Ron served on the NCRWA board
from 1977 until his retirement in 2015. You
can read more about Ron and his dedicated
service to the Association in the “From the
Executive Director” article on page 3.
Barring a major football game in the Queen
City, the two-day Leadership Summit went
off without a hitch. We even had break-
time entertainment by the UNC marching
band right outside the door; thankfully they
only played during our scheduled break!
The dates of the 2016 Leadership Summit
will be announced in the spring. If you are
a decision-maker in your system, or aspire
to be a decision-maker, look no further than
the Leadership Summit to help advance your
professional growth.
As always, we are greatly appreciative of
our speakers and our sponsors. Without the
continued support of these individuals and
companies, the Leadership Summit would
not be possible.
