The Tarheel Pipeline: Winter 2014 - page 20

The Joint Public Education Committee
plans to continue pursuing different ways
to deliver the PSAs, including having
them shown at sporting events, during
career fairs and in movie theatres before
features. These goals are detailed in the
Public Education and Marketing Plan.
“I think that in times to come, we will
meet all those objectives,” says Wilson,
adding that limited resources make
prioritizing essential.
One priority identified by the committee is
to continue adding materials to the website
to keep it ‘fresh’ and engaging. “That is
definitely another part of the challenge,”
says Simon, noting that creating the website
was only the first step. “The group needs
to continue to develop new educational
materials, keep the messages current,
and find new ways to deliver them.”
The Joint Public Education Campaign
retained the rights to all the footage so
that any unused portions can be turned into
additional PSAs.
“We are just skimming the surface,”
notes Wilson. “There is a tremendous
amount that can be done. The very fact
that the associations are working together
is huge. The true benefit is the creation
of an ongoing joint effort to tackle
industry needs.”
