In celebration of National Apprenticeship
Week, the four Maryland ABC Chapters
hosted Secretary of Department
of Labor, Licensing and Regulation
(DLLR), Kelly Schulz, on November 3
rd
.
Secretary Schulz and Labor and Industry
Commissioner Tom Meighen visited ABC
CraftMasters Academy to advance joint
efforts in promoting and enhancing
apprenticeship opportunities in Maryland
as well as tour our training facilities.
Rising Star Awards

ABC of MetroWashington congratulated
Justin Fanning, Goldin & Stafford, LLC,
who was honored at its November 17
th
ABC.XYZ Rising Star Awards ceremony.
The ABC.XYZ Rising Star program
recognizes the efforts and accom-
plishments of an outstanding young
professional who actively participates
in and contributes to ABC of Metro
Washington. Throughout the 10-month
program, participants earned points
towards the ABC.XYZ Rising Star Award
or to be recognized as one of the top five
finalists among industry peers and leaders.
As part of the prize package, Fanning
also received guaranteed acceptance
into the association’s next Leadership
Development Program (LDP), pending full
company support, and a scholarship in the
amount of 50% of the LDP program fee.
Maryland ABC Reception for
Governor Hogan a Huge Success
On a beautiful fall day, more than
150 ABC members and guests came
together to support Governor Larry
Hogan at a BBQ hosted by the four
Maryland ABC chapters at Smokey Glen
Farm in Gaithersburg, MD. Secretary
of Commerce Mike Gill delivered a
passionate speech in support of both
the Governor and ABC. The Governor
was unable to attend as he had just
entered the hospital for what we all
hope is his final round of treatment. The
event raised more than $60,000 for the
Governor’s re-election efforts.
