2013 Annual Clay Shoot
Another One for the Books
This year’s clay shoot was another great event with 52 shooters. We were blessed with near perfect weather
this year which was a welcome change from the last two years. Clear skies and cool temperatures made for a
nice walk over the property at Shane’s Sporting Clays in Summerfield, NC.
2013 NCRWA
e want to thank everyone who came out and
shot with us this year and especially want to
thank our Associate Members who through
their sponsorships made this shoot a great
event for all who participated. Because of
these sponsors, our T-Shirt was full of names
and most of the 14 stations were sponsored
as well. Three items that received a lot of
attention from the participants were the
custom boat paddles that Mr. Ryan Hager
with WK Dickson has been putting up for
the last several years, the shotgun provided
by AmeroChem as a WaterPAC prize, and
the Henry “Golden Boy” 22 lever action rifle
donated by Pearson Pump Company, which
was a special prize at the shoot just for the
participants. Ms. Pam Baughman won the
Amerochem shotgun and Mr. Paul Hammer
won the Henry rifle. Again, we appreciate
each and every one of the companies that
sponsored something this year.
As the morning got going and the sound of
gun fire and smell of burnt powder filled the
air, everyone shooting had a smile on their
face. Old friends were catching up with each
other and new friendships were being made.
If you have never tried this game I encourage
you to come out and take part next year even
if you haven’t fired a shotgun. One thing can
be said about shooters: they are a friendly
bunch and are always willing to assist a new
shooter. The other good thing about this sport
is that no matter how many targets you hit the
fun is all the same.
This year, as in past years, everyone shot
100 targets over 14 fields. Targets were
challenging but hittable and everyone did hit
targets. Mr. Eric Davis was the shooter who
took the most targets at this year’s event. Ms.
Pam Baughman, President of Virginia Rural
Water, was high lady shooter. Second place
went to Mr. Steve Wilson, Vice-President of
South Carolina Rural Water. Lewis Class 1st
went to Eddie Staley and Lewis Class 2nd
went to Tom Delbrige.
A number of door prizes were given away
after a great lunch. Next year will be here
before we know it so we invite everyone to
come back and join us again. And as I said
before, if you haven’t been out to shoot this
event, please come and give it a try. I hope to
see everyone on the range again soon.
