Summer 2013
y all accounts, the 2013 NCRWA Annual
Conference & Exhibition was an astounding
success. The entire NCRWA Conference
Committee and Staff worked hard for the
last year, and it showed. The full exhibit
hall and impressive attendance were great,
but the biggest reward for NCRWA was the
fact that the evaluation forms submitted had
one common theme amongst exhibitors and
attendees alike – the show was good for their
businesses and professional growth. The
Convention provided top-notch industry-
specific educational sessions, state CEU credit,
and multiple opportunities for face-to-face
interaction with other industry professionals
in a central location and outstanding venue.
A special “Thank you!” to all of our sponsors,
exhibitors,
volunteers,
speakers,
and
attendees for their support and commitment
to NCRWA. These key players are the engine
that pushes us forward, helping us to improve,
and providing bigger and better offerings year
after year.
Education
As NCRWAworks diligently to meet the needs
of the membership, our Annual Conference &
Exhibition grows to reflect that effort. This
year, in addition to the Water, Wastewater,
Administrative, and Board training tracks, we
also added Engineering and Back Flow Cross
Connection tracks. The new classes were well
received and some were standing-room only.
The Conference offered a total of 27 one-hour
education sessions and two system tours,
which also offered credit. Attendees were
provided ample opportunities to get their 6
hours in water and wastewater credit, as well
as up to 11 Professional Engineering personal
development hours. Running concurrently
with Conference, four certification schools,
a Trenching & Shoring class, and our
much-sought-after
Utility
Management
Certification School were also offered. These
offerings pushed our Conference to a new
level, providing the most variety and tools for
success ever offered at an NCRWA event.
Networking
Golf, Clay Shoot, and Corn Hole, may
sound like you’re goofing off, but it is
staggering how quickly these events can turn
complete strangers into life-long professional
colleagues. Other networking opportunities
included the Meet & Greet, Awards Banquet
(further detailed in an article by Lowell Gunter
on page 20), and of course the packed Exhibit
Hall. Whether it is vendor-to-attendee or
peer-to-peer, the relationships established and
information shared will help you throughout
your career.
