FEATURE

of dollars in claims,” said Pike. “In a

nutshell, our perfect client is the middle-

market business owner wearing five or

six hats. What we do is take one hat

off and become their outsourced risk

management team, and we manage their

risk, holistically, from top to bottom.”

“General contractors do a lot of due

diligence when it comes to selecting the

right sub, but they don’t always take

that approach when choosing the right

broker,” said Pike. “Lowest bid is not the

way to buy insurance.” According to Pike,

a general contractor should be asking

some basic, fundamental questions

when selecting a broker:

- Does my broker have the

ability to provide real-time, on-

demand risk services?

- Does my broker have the ability

to provide accurate analytical

data for workers’ compensation

claims that will drive my risk

management protocols?

- Does my broker have the

expertise and ability to handle

contractual risk transfer?

“People don’t know what they’re not

getting until they have an experience

where they see a true professional

brokerage organization attacking their

risk on multiple fronts,” said Pike. “Our

commitment to our clients is to help them

reduce their losses and enhance their

insurance rating, which ultimately lowers

their overall cost of transferring the risk to

the carrier, and we simply ask our client

‘Is this what your broker is currently doing

for you?’ Almost 99 percent of the time,

the answer is ‘no.’”

T

he PENTA Building Group was the recipient of the September AGC Las Vegas Safe Site Award for the San Manuel Interior Remodel

in Highland, California. This project included a $30 million interior remodel of a tribal casino that started in October of 2014 and

is expected to be completed by June of 2016. A total of 225 men have logged 179,740 working hours thus far without a lost-

time accident. Jeff Stolzoff and Robert Bucein are the project managers, and Brian Schell along with Don Farnham, Louis Blanchard,

and Leo Erhardt are the project superintendents. Once complete, this interior remodel will be in 25 areas that were all accessible during

construction. Keeping the public safe was just as important as keeping the workers safe to The PENTA Building Group.
