A Micro Market is an unattended, fully automated; self-checkout retail food establishment
that often replaces a bank of vending machines. In a Micro Market a consumer picks a product from
an open rack display, a reach-in refrigerated cooler or freezer, and scans the item’s identification
code at a self-checkout kiosk. The consumer pays with a single payment, be it cash, credit/debit
card, or stored value market account.
A Micro Market may be serviced by a route driver who arrives at the location, verifies the
equipment is working properly, and provides promotional and merchandising support, as
appropriate. Through the use of advanced retail software, management is able to properly track and
monitor consumer purchase patterns, business analytics, and operational benchmarks. Simply
stated, a Micro Market expands the number of products that can be sold in about the equivalent
floor space of a typical bank of vending machines; without similar sizing, pricing, or packaging
limitations.
