T
he N.C. Source Water Collaborative is a statewide partnership to
protect drinking water. Founded in December 2011, the N.C. Source
Water Collaborative includes participants from non-profit organizations,
university programs, state, local and federal agencies, professional
associations, and regional councils of government. The Collaborative‘s
intent is to develop and support strategies designed to preserve the lakes,
streams, rivers and aquifers used for drinking water and the land that
protects and recharges these sources of water. In support of this mission,
the N.C. Source Water Collaborative is announcing the inaugural Source
Water Protection Awards.
Nominations are being sought for candidates that demonstrate innovative
and collaborative solutions to protect North Carolina’s drinking water
and the watersheds that support it. Any individual, group, organization,
or agency who engages in coordinated activities to protect drinking water
at its source may be eligible for an award. The six award categories are:

Planning (surface water)
2.
Planning (groundwater)
3.
Implementation (surface water)
4.
Implementation (groundwater)
5.
Education
6.
Leadership
Nominations are due by December 1
st
. Award winners will be announced
at the 2015 North Carolina Water Resources Annual Symposium in
association with the Water Resource Research Institute Conference.
