About the Cover:

The cover highlights our feature story, Mayberry H

2

0, by

Marty Wilson. The Mayberry water tower is located on the corner of Haymore

Street and Rockford Street, just across from Andy Griffith’s childhood home!

Mitch Williams, the Mount Airy City Engineer came up with the idea to add the

image to the water tower to promote tourism. The logo is actually owned by

Julie Teague, the owner of Mayberry Consignments on Main Street. It is used on

license plates, souvenirs, etc. The original is a black and white silhouette. Ms.

Teague graciously let the city use it on the water tower. An artist out of Archdale,

NC, Jeremy Sams added color and trees to the logo.

The photo was taken by the City of Mount Airy Public Works.
